If the sky is clear we hope to see some meteors from this famous and reliable meteor shower. Bring a sunlounger or chair and lots of midge repellent !! Starts at sunset till whenever you want.

The above event list uses Google Calendars to record all of our public events.  If you would like to receive update messages - either email or SMS - about the forth coming events - and you have a google email account - then the following instructions will show you how to receive the events to your phone or email client.

Get SMS reminders of our meetings.

Step 1.
  1. Log onto your google mail account
  2. Click on the Calendar link
  3. Click on the Settings link - top right of the page
  4. Click on Mobile Settings
  5. Enter your mobile phone number and then click on the 'Send Verification Code'
    Do not leave this page, waiting until you get a SMS message from Google
  6. You will now receive a text message from google, this contains a number.
  7. Enter the number into the verification code box and click Finish setup.

You have now told google that if you want SMS reminders how to send them.

Step 2.
  1. Return to your Calendar main view
  2. Create an event for a few hours in the future
  3. Edit this event
  4. Add some text to the Location and Description boxes
  5. Under the Description box you will see Reminders
  6. In the Reminders dropdown list change it to SMS and 1 hour
  7. Save the details and wait.

You now have the ability to get SMS reminders for any event you create.

Step 3.

Sheffield Astronomical Society has a public calendar called Sheffield Astronomical Society you add this to your calendars to receive notifications of our events.

Go to your calendar page and look for Other Calendars, you will see a link call Add, click on this and enter sheffieldastro@gmail.com

Once you get the calendar details up, click on the Notification tag.

We suggest you only click the New invitations tag for SMS or you will get lots of messages.

You can add up to three event reminders for each event.
