This is the history of the Sheffield Astronomical Society from its formation in 1934 to the present day. Currently comprises of a list of presidents and a report compiled by Nora Betts in 1987.
Significant Moments
25th September 2006 - the society membership went over 100 for the first time in its history.
23rd September 2004 - the society became a UK registered charity.
8th June 2004 - the society's largest public event. The Venus transit saw over 5000 people attend and 70,000 individual hits on our website.
24th April 1934 - the society was formed and held it's first meeting.
